The seed beads in my kits are made from glass, but you can add other beads whether they are made from wooden, faceted glass, or even semi-precious stones. 

I have included handy glue dots to help you secure your ribbon, but if you are attaching other embellishments you’ll also need a strong adhesive or hot glue gun to secure them. Scissors are necessary for cutting threads and trimming feathers if you are adding them, and a needle is included for threading beads onto your web. Secure the end of the ribbon with a glue dot, and then wrap it tightly around the entire hoop, making sure there are no gaps. Take your time here to make sure the ribbon is evenly wrapped, it will make that difference with the overall look of your final piece.

Once the hoop is wrapped, it’s time to start weaving the web. Cut a long piece of thread and tie one end to the hoop. Begin by creating a series of evenly spaced loops around the hoop, pulling the thread through itself to form a knot at each point. Continue this process around the entire hoop until you return to the starting point. For the next row, add 3 beads, loop the thread through the middle of the previous row’s segments, creating a secondary layer of knots. Repeat this process, gradually working your way towards the centre of the hoop, each time adding more beads.

Step 3

As you weave, you will incorporate the beads by threading them onto the thread before making a knot. This will allow the beads to be suspended within the web, the spiral of beads and thread will get tighter as you move to the centre of the web. If you run out of thread, simply knot the end of your existing piece to a new length. Once you reach the centre, tie off the thread securely and trim any excess. 

Step 4

Your web is now complete, and you can move on to adding other decorations. Attach feathers to the bottom of the dream catcher using additional thread or glue, and add beads, charms, or ribbons to enhance the overall design. My kits include enough beads and thread to create a beaded tassel, but you could add whatever additional decorative elements you like.

I don’t use any glue but you can use a small amount of glue to reinforce knots if necessary, but be careful not to use too much, as it can create a messy appearance.
